Year-End Report 2022
I’m happy to share the Year End Report for the St. Lawrence Corridor Economic Development Commission. 2022 was a highwater mark for economic progress and job creation across the region. While we transition back to a more pre-pandemic “normal” in terms of business operations; the SLCEDC continued to deliver a high return on investment and strong business results through 2022 – including facilitating the creation of 292 new jobs and over $100,000,000 MM in new investment. Moreover. with 6 deals in the pipeline worth $78 million, these investments would create more than 230 new jobs in our region if realized. Our digital marketing platform is steadily growing – sharing new “regional success stories” while enhancing content and engagement through social media channels. Our business consulting services are supporting local scale-ups; bolstering the global competitiveness of high growth firms in the food processing, wire & cable and defense industries. These sectors have high productivity rates and generate strong economic output for every hour worked. The Corridor continues to tackle the evolving economy and all the challenges posed by the post COVID-19 world – including labour force and purpose built residential housing for workers. Our efforts in 2022 have positioned us well for this coming year and beyond.
